The Massachusetts State House became the epicenter of celebration and recognition as black and Latino representatives gathered virtually for the 2022 Latino Excellence Awards. Our two co-founders, Liliana Arroyave and Estefany Roldán, were two of the more than 40 award recipients. These awards are a celebration of Hispanic culture, excellence, and achievement in the State of Massachusetts. They honor individuals of Latino descent who have made outstanding contributions across diverse spheres, including academia, entrepreneurship, the arts, and philanthropy. The event underscored the importance of unity and solidarity among communities of different cultural backgrounds.
Honoring Trailblazers in Every Corner
These awards are a sincere tribute to the dynamic figures within the Latino community in Massachusetts. More than 40 Latino leaders, each with unique stories and journeys, were recognized for their outstanding contributions. From educators breaking barriers in the classroom to community organizers bringing positive change to the neighborhoods, to the law student influencing policies to better support the community, the diversity of talents and efforts was genuinely inspiring. The awards are an occasion to honor visionaries and trailblazers who translate aspirations into realities, thereby effecting positive change throughout the cities and towns dotting the state’s landscape.
Representative Giannino’s Nomination
Our two co-founders were nominated for the excellence award by Jessica Ann Giannino, state representative for the 16th Suffolk district. Representative Giannino is vice chair of the Joint Committee on Children, Families and Persons with Disabilities, the Committee on Economic Development and Emerging Technologies, the Committee on Election Laws and the Committee on Environment and Natural Resources. Representative Giannino also served previously as Councillor for the city of Revere in Massachusetts and she comes from a family with a proud history of public service in their community. As a foundation, we could not be more proud that the representative Giannino selected to recognize the leadership of our founders and the work we do as a foundation.
